Green screen practice
We filmed Michael walking and added multiple different backgrounds to practice using green screen and show that we know how to use it, upon reflection we decided that we didn't want to incorporate green screen as it isn't as authentic and natural, which isn't the look that were looking for.
Fix You - Draft Two
For the second draft we have included some more shots of the artist singing, he is also playing the guitar which we think looks good and fits I well with our music video and genre, we are going to e re-filming these scenes as the costume doesn't match and there isn't any synergy throughout if the artist isn't in the confect clothing. We are also going to be changing where the scene is filmed to make sure that it is fitting to our music video.
Editing - Production diary
When it came to editing our music video we all worked together to balance the workload and give us the ability to all give our opinions, we had an issue with our editing as it got deleted when we was three quarters of the way through, this meant that we had to restart our music video, we all continued to work together to catch up with the work. We are editing our music video on 'Final Cut Pro' which is what we used in our AS coursework therefore we all had a rough understanding as of how to use it, I personally think that we have all improved our editing skills as a result of having to do it two times.
Editing test footage
Micheal was most confident with the program therefore me and Todd took a slight back seat and learnt from what he was doing so that we were able to input more when it got to the final video editing.
Audience research - Production diary
When it came to deciding who we wanted aim our music video to and the audience we want to approach we selected; couples and both genders, we selected this as there is both a male and female character in our music video, and we also wanted to stick to the conventions of a stereotypical 'couple' who are male and female. We then had a questionnaire for the audience to get a rough idea as to what they want to see in the music video and how they feel about the different ideas in which we have.
Research and Planning - Production diary
We tried to think of the purpose of music videos and what we want to find in music videos, the main aspect was the artist singing, which is something that we wanted to incorporate just as much as creating a narrative throughout the music video.
When planning we had to end an email to the artist who's music we are going to be using, this is a formal letter to ensure that we have copy right agreement. We then researched into different music videos in our selected genres to grasp the key concepts.
We then researched into different camera techniques and angles, this was some practice shots and clips to recall our memory and camera skills as we haven't really used a camera since our AS studies.
Fix You - Draft one
Reflection on filming
When filming we didn't come across many issues because we had a strict shooting schedule, however, the camera did run out of charge which was a slight dilemma but we over come this and decided that we were happy with the iPhone quality and decided to film on our phones. This wasn't due to planning, we did charge the camera to full battery but the battery life ran out very fast, we were lucky enough to have good quality phones.
We got extra footage than what we needed to ensure that we had options when we got back to school to edit, this will be a big help as we will be able to play around with it and make a few drafts to see what we like.
Digipak analysis - production diary
I am discussing the digipak's which I analysed, to say what I have learnt from this, one of the things that I discovered was the one dominant colour and then a few little sub-colours, as a group we took the same approach that 'Rhianna' and 'Justin Bieber' took and made the artist the main focus point. From analysing these digipak's it helped us know what is needed an what could be added to make it effective.
Risk assessment
Underneath is a risk assessment that we completed to ensure that we are fully aware of the risks around us that may affect us, also the risk we give off to the public from our equipment etc. When travelling to London to film we had to remain sensible and considerate, by this I mean, we had to make sure that we are being aware of everything and everyone around us. We had to remain considerate because there were other people of the general public who were also traveling into London, we had to ensure that everybody's safety and needs were the priority. As we had some equipment we had to make sure that this didn't take up to much space or harm anybody.
It is signed by myself to prove that we know the risks and will avoid them if possible.

Main male actor - Lip sync practice
This is our main actor and the artist for our music video, we practiced the lip syncing before the day of filming. As you can tell Todd got carried away and indulged in the lyrics. The purpose of this is so that we are confident that we may go and film our actual video because the lip syncing needs to be good and clear so that it fits in well the the video and looks realistic.
Institution logo
When creating all of these logos I wanted to ensure that they were all music based as we are creating a music video, I decided to do them all with the same colouring so that it was easier to select one because if they were all different colours they would be too different and it would make it more difficult to make a decision.
Additional camera shots
Extreme close-ups
We used this a bit in our AS work therefore we know how to use it and when. We use it because it allows the audience to see the facial expressions and emotion of the character or particular object to symbolise something. Therefore with our genre and our narrative that we are using, we feel extreme close-ups may be very necessary.
Tracking shot
These shots are very essential as it allows us to show the journey of travelling that our artist does i narrative. we can follow him filming/tracking where he is in London.
Zoom
Zooming in is a good shot because it allows the audience to see the surroundings and then more of the actual character. It also makes the audience concentrate more and focus on the character as a whole.
